Treasures of The BatCave! TV Guides
Some thoughts about us Boomers....
You know who we are....our first school was Romper Room. We drank milk with Engineer Bill--'red light/green light!' We trusted Sheriff John...Father Knew Best, but mothers always knew better! The Beav and Wally were our friends....the Nelsons our neighbors...Superman our hero..Jeannie our fantasy.
Every town had a Route 66 and a 77 Sunset Strip...the signpost up ahead warned us of The Twilight Zone, but we gladly drove into Mayberry.
We laughed...we loved Lucy, Uncle Miltie, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, Red Skelton, Rob and Laura, Bob and Emily, Laverne and Shirley, Herman and Lily, Gomez and Morticia...Carol, Mary, Rhoda, Uncle Arthur, Cousin Itt, Granny, Miss Jane and Mr. French.
We cried...brave men were lost so a man could walk on the moon, a president died in a nation's arms, wars once unseen would bring death into our homes...in black and white--and color.
We learned...Today, 60 Minutes, Meet the Press...Newsmen we trusted--Walter Cronkite, Harry Reasoner, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, John Chancellor. We watched live plays in our living rooms, tragedy and drama, life and death...the old and the young, the familiar faces and the bright unknowns. Some would be with us throughout the decades....many gone and forgotten.
But we know who we are. We are the generation of instant gratification, but that's not always a bad thing! We choose to be taught, to be entertained, to be informed....and we choose when to turn the switch ON and when to turn it OFF!
The Power is in YOUR hands.........use it wisely!
And now......behold the Holy Grail that is, was,
and always shall be..................
